CUFI Talking Points: Israel and the Election

electionThe American people have spoken and the results are in.  Donald J. Trump will be our next president.

Over the last several months, CUFI leaders have been privileged to meet with members of Trump’s team to discuss the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship.  CUFI leaders have also known Vice President-Elect Mike Pence for years.

Simply put, we are well positioned to work closely with the incoming administration to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.  We intend to do so.

We’re glad to see that this relationship is already off to an excellent start.  Immediately after the election, Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated Trump on winning and called him a “great friend of Israel.” Trump responded by inviting Netanyahu to come to DC for a diplomatic visit as soon as possible.

We also recall that President-elect Trump has been a strong critic of the deal with Iran.  And since this deal was an executive branch initiative never ratified by Congress, we know that a President Trump will be able to immediately take steps to stop the flow of cash and business deals to Iran.

We’re looking forward to a busy and productive Trump administration.  We will do everything we can to ensure that this administration is one that rewards America’s friends and is tough on our enemies.
